The Idea & Approach
The magic in this campaign was that we made it more than an animation. Rather, we crafted a story of two underdogs, Janelle and Daniel, kind souls with hopes and limited means of achieving their dreams, until now.
We created backstories for both characters and their cast. Motivations, mannerisms, and settings that support their hopes to achieve more. Creating narrative tension that makes us ask ‘What if’ and paid both stories off with a happy outcome. Thanks to the Washington Lottery WA Grant.
WA Grant Campaign
The Washington Lottery wanted to highlight a powerful but often overlooked truth: every ticket played contributes to funding education and career-building grants across the state. Wunderman Thompson needed a way to communicate this impact clearly and emotionally—connecting everyday players with the real opportunities their participation helps create.
Laundry partnered with Wunderman Thompson to unveil this hidden benefit by bringing this campaign to life through expressive animation and character-driven storytelling. By visualizing personal career dreams and the communities they grow from, the work transformed grant funding into relatable human stories—showing how every play helps open doors to education, training, and new futures across Washington.
