Intuit Virtual Tax Store: Volumetric Capture

We helped Intuit bring it to life by creating a 3D, explorable store experience. Using 3D design, animation, WebGL (with Dogstudio), and volumetric capture of real tax experts, we added warmth and humanity—turning tax season into something confident, helpful, and stress-free.

UI, Lighting & Materials

Intuit wanted a virtual space that felt innovative yet inviting. We used natural materials, warm lighting, and clean design—letting the tech feel advanced but the experience feel human.

Intuit TurboTax set out to solve a simple problem—making taxes less scary. Their idea: a virtual tax store, an online space for learning, help, and resources that makes filing feel easier and more pleasant.

Tax Experts

Intuit wanted their tax experts to feel welcoming in a space that calms the usual stress around taxes. The goal: a minimalist, human, and comfortable environment—guided by an expert who feels more like a friend than a form.

Volumetric Capture

CGI characters felt too artificial, but we needed real people to exist naturally in a 3D space. The solution: volumetric capture.

We filmed each tax expert with 240 cameras at once, then used GPU-powered photogrammetry to turn the footage into fully animated 3D models. This allowed users to move freely around and interact with real, lifelike experts inside the virtual space.
